Developer Helps Community to Build Stataion Debt-free through Land Donation

Hutchins, Texas, (March 13, 2009) — The Allen Group, developers of the Dallas Logistics Hub (DLH), a 6,000-acre multi-modal logistics park in southern Dallas County, donated 1.7 acres of land to the City of Hutchins for the development of the city’s new fire station. The Allen Group, along with City of Hutchins and the Hutchins Fire Department, celebrated the opening of the City’s newest fire station today.

The facility, located at 1525 E. Wintergreen Road in Hutchins, is 7,100 square feet and will house Engine 2, Medic 702, and Booster 2. It will have enough room to sleep 9 including the shift officer.

In addition to the donation of land by the Allen Group, the $2.1 million fire station received a cash grant by the Hutchins Economic Development Board and used existing funds reserved by the City of Hutchins for the station. The Dallas firm 3i Construction built the facility.

“As the Dallas Logistics Hub continues to grow and expand, The Allen Group remains highly committed to developing the surrounding community as well, including the City of Hutchins,” said The Allen Group CEO Richard Allen. “The Allen Group is dedicated to creating new jobs and becoming more involved in the South Dallas County region and today’s opening of the new Hutchins Fire Station is a significant milestone for our company and the community.”

This station is critical in keeping up with the growth of City and keeping residents safe,” said City of Hutchins Mayor Artis Johnson. “And because the station was built with no debt, fire fighters can concentrate on saving lives.”

Leslie Jutzi of The Allen Group attended the ceremony, along with John Hubbard, Executive Director of the Hutchins Economic Development Corporation. In addition, Michael Williams, former Carter High School student and NBA player and current CEO and President of 3i Construction was present.
